Mutton Mania 2008

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Students and staff of Richfield Residential Hall spent Saturday, April 26th hard at work. Beginning at 8:00 am, students and staff butchered two mutton in the traditional way in preparation for our favorite cookout of the year. After a full day of hard work and play, students, staff, and guests enjoyed a mutton fry with all the trimmings. We had everything from roast mutton and fry bread to blood sausage and dry bread. A special thanks goes to the students and staff who worked so hard to make this such a great event for all. We were blessed to have our Governing Board members with us for this activity. Special thanks also goes to Mrs. Baker and her family from SSHS for spending the day with us and being so interested in learning about our culture.

Fish On!

Monday, April 21st, 2008

On Saturday, April 19th Ms. Herrera and Mr. Laws took 15 students fishing at Otter Creek. Several of these students indicated that they had not been fishing in 8 or 9 years! The funny thing is that they are the ones who caught their limit first! Ms. Herrera says it was beginners luck…the kids say they just have “skills”!!! Everyone who participated had a great time. A special thanks goes to the kitchen staff for making sure there was plenty of good food (what fun is a fishing trip if you are hungry), and the Mr. Laws and Ms. Herrera for making this happen. We are already looking forward to the next trip!
