The highlight of the evening for may of us is the amazing food! John Judd and the San Rafael Works Cowboy Catering Company make the best meal around. We were all treated to a delicious meal that included a huge ribeye steak, grilled shrimp, dutch oven potatoes, dutch oven carrots, salad, rolls, and apple caramel cake for desert. Thanks, John. You did such a good job that many of us are still full!

May Students of the Month (2008)

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

It seems like at the end of every school year, many students start to slack off. This is definitely not the case at Richfield Residential Hall. Selecting the students of the month for May proved to be one of the toughest student of the month decisions of the year. In fact, it was a perfect tie on the girls side! Congratulations to Clarenda, Candice, and Greg for being selected as Students of the Month for May 2008!

Clarenda Begaye is a Senior at South Sevier High School, and has attended Richfield Residential Hall since her Sophomore year. Clarenda has worked hard to be on track for graduation this year and has led the way in our on-site Navajo Language class. Clarenda was offered a scholarship to attend Salt Lake Community College, where she plans to continue her education this fall. Clarenda is the daughter of Marlinda Curley of Tonalea, AZ.

Candice Bekay is a Senior at Richfield High School, and has also attended Richfield Residential Hall since her Sophomore year. She served as the RRH Studentbody President for the 2007 – 2008 school year, where she did an awesome job planning and carrying out fun activities for all of our students. Candice has been selected as an Ambassador for Snow College where she received a scholarship and plans to continue her education next year. Candice is the daughter of Lorenzo and Daisy Bekay of Kaibeto, AZ.

Gregory Clyde is a Sophomore at South Sevier High School and he is finishing his second full year at Richfield Residential Hall. Greg is an amazing artist. Whether it is a pencil, pen, wood, clay, or a guitar, it seems Greg can make it do things that no one else can. He is a great student and respectful young man who is destined to do great things! Just remember, Greg, we get a signed copy of your first cd or major painting! Greg is the son of Sheryl Yellowhorse of Kayenta, AZ.

Leadership Can Be A Laughing Matter

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

On Monday, May 12th the Richfield Residential Hall Student Council took some time off from their hard work to attend the James and Ernie Show at the Paiute Tribal Center in Cedar City, Utah.  The RRH Student Council has worked very hard to provide activities for RRH students and to seek out opportunities to share our culture with the community. To reward them for their efforts, the Student Council traveled to Cedar City, Utah to eat dinner and watch a great show. After stuffing themselves at Panda Express, the students and advisers, Sylvia Nielson and Angie Herrera, split their sides laughing at the funniest  Native American Comedians around.  Check them out at www.jamesandernie.com .

The 2007-2008 Student Council is Canice Bekay (President), Kimora Bizahaloni, Deidra Greymountain, Vanessa Clark, and Riva Chief.  Check out this cool picture of our Student Council with the infamous James and Ernie.

Learning Leadership TODAY!

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Richfield Residential Hall’s motto of “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow” is something that we all take very seriously. We truly believe that we are developing tomorrow’s brightest leaders.

dennisha-michael-chamberlain.jpgRRH Sophomore, Dennisha Bradley, is one student who is going out of her way to develop her leadership potential. Dennisha was selected as one of only two students from Richfield High School to serve as an ambassador at the Utah Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership seminar. From May 8th to May 10th, Dennisha immersed herself in leadership experiences and seminars at beautiful Aspen Grove (just above Sundance Ski Resort). Dennisha says that she made a ton of new friends throughout this experience and that she had a lot of fun and learned a lot from the experience. We are so proud of you, Dennisha. We know that you will be a great leader in all that you apply yourself to!
