Great Catches at Richfield Residential Hall
Gone Fishing
by Chris Rea
I’m gone fishing
I got me a line
Nothing I do is gonna make the difference
So I’m taking the time
And you ain’t never gonna be happy
Anyhow, anyway
So I’m gone fishing
And I’m going today
I’m gone fishing
Sounds crazy I know
I know nothing about fishing
But just watch me go
And when the time has come
I will look back and see
Peace on the shoreline
That could have been me
You can waste a whole lifetime
Trying to be
What you think is expected of you
But you’ll never be free
May as well go fishing
Six girls and eight boys got up between 5:30 and 6:00 am on September 23, 2012 to go on a fishing activity with Grandma and Mr. Richards. After packing the two vans with the equipment and breakfast/lunch sacks prepared kindly by the kitchen staff, we left the dorms at 7:00 am and drove to Twin Lake located in the Manti-La Sal National Forest which is not far from Mayfield, Utah. As we got closer to the lake, we saw several deer by the side of the mountain and were curious to see us as they did not attempt to run away. When we arrived at the lake, the students quickly unloaded the equipment and began fishing. Grandma was the first to catch a rainbow trout within two or three minutes after the first cast. Soon all around the lake, all the students were catching fish. For some of the students, it was their first time to catch fish. We caught around 50 rainbow trout and we cooked and ate around 24 trout at the lake. We brought back the rest of the fish to the dorms and Grandma prepare the grill for a fish fest. All the students and the staff that took part in the fishing trip had a great time and are looking forward to the next fishing activity.
