A total of 19 members of the RRH Book Club qualified to watch the movie version of the book that they read starting in January. Students read “The Host” by Stephanie Meyer and met bimonthly to discuss the book. Students who completed the entire book were rewarded RRH with paid tickets to the movie adaption. After the movie, students met with their book club advisor, Beatriz Quitco to compare and contrast the movie and the book. In general there were feelings of ambivalence toward the movie. Several of the students expressed that the movie did not convey or capture the details within the book. Other students thoroughly enjoyed the book and said it complimented the novel. Overall, the students loved book club this year and are awaiting next year’s material!
