The Stock Market Game

Congratulations to Tianna Begay, Jeffery Crank, and Alex Ketchum for placing 2nd, as a team, in the state high school division of the Stock Market Game. Students in Mr. Nathan Costa’s Financial Literacy class at South Sevier High School participated in the Stock Market Game. Each student starts out with a virtual cash amount of $100,000 to invest in stock. They try to create the best-performing portfolio using an online trading simulation. Teams trade common stocks and mutual funds from the NYSE, Nasdaq, and AMEX exchanges. While playing the game, students learn economic and financial concepts!

The team of Tianna, Jeffery, and Alex received a 32.7 % on their investment; total equity of $139,475. They will be honored at a banquet in Salt Lake City on January 14th, where business and state dignatries will be in attendance.
